Accessibility statement
I design for accessibility at work, so this site has to meet the same bar. The target is WCAG 2.2 level AA.
Last reviewed:
How the site is built
- Semantic HTML, one heading 1 per page and landmarks for header, navigation, main content and footer.
- A “Skip to content” link as the first item on every page.
- Everything works with the keyboard, with a visible focus indicator.
- Text and interface colors checked for contrast in both light and dark themes.
- Light and dark themes follow your system setting, and you can switch manually.
- Animations are turned off when your system asks for reduced motion.
- Stronger borders and secondary text when your system asks for more contrast, and support for Windows high contrast mode.
- Touch targets of at least 44 by 44 pixels for links and buttons.
- Text alternatives for every meaningful image, including the research slides in the case studies.
- Language marked on content in another language, such as quotes and article titles.
- The site works without JavaScript.
How it was tested
- Automated checks with axe-core against WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 A and AA rules on every page, in both themes.
- Keyboard-only navigation and focus order review.
- Reflow at 320 pixels wide, equivalent to 400% zoom, without horizontal scrolling.
Known limitations
- Some case study images are slides and screenshots from past projects. Their text is described in the image alternative, but the image itself may not meet contrast requirements.
- Articles linked in the Writing section are hosted on Medium, which I don’t control.
